Questions & Answers
Product & Usage
Wine decanters are designed to aerate wine, allowing it to "breathe" by exposing it to oxygen. This process enhances the wine’s aroma, softens tannins, and improves overall flavor—particularly for bold red wines like Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and aged wines. Decanting also helps separate sediment from older wines.
Decanting time varies by wine type:
Young, tannic reds: 30–60 minutes
Mature reds (10+ years): 10–30 minutes (avoid over-aeration)
Light reds & full-bodied whites: 15–20 minutes
While less common, full-bodied white wines (e.g., oaked Chardonnay) can benefit from brief decanting. Champagne and sparkling wines are typically not decanted as it may cause them to lose carbonation.
Care & Cleaning
Hand wash with warm water and a mild detergent. Use a soft bottle brush for hard-to-reach areas. Avoid abrasive tools or harsh chemicals that may scratch or cloud the glass. For stubborn stains or wine residue, soak with a mixture of warm water and white vinegar or specialized decanter cleaning beads.
Most crystal and hand-blown glass decanters are not dishwasher-safe. High heat and detergents can damage delicate surfaces or decorative elements. Always refer to the product’s care instructions.
Store it upright in a dust-free cabinet. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or humidity to preserve clarity and prevent clouding.
